Women’s College Hospital (WCH)’s Breast Imaging Department will soon be receiving life-saving new diagnostic equipment for breast cancer screening – all thanks to the generosity of our donor community.
When FDC Foundation, one of Canada’s leading philanthropic foundations, learned of the urgent need for new breast imaging equipment, they generously stepped forward with inspiring support: a commitment to match up to $2 million in gifts towards the purchase of four new mammography and four new ultrasound machines.
With a total cost of $4.5 million, the new equipment represents one of the hospital’s most critical needs and FDC Foundation’s generosity and leadership is quickly helping to close the gap towards securing it.
The new state-of-the-art mammography and breast ultrasound machines will replace older equipment to be more comfortable and efficient for patients, allowing the hospital to see an additional 1,000+ people each year, and the 3D imaging capabilities means patients will be receiving state-of-the-art care.
Corwin Burton, WCH’s Clinical Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, says that the new machines will significantly improve the patient experience and every dollar donated towards the purchase of the new equipment will have a significant impact.
“Every donation made in support of this urgent need will help us acquire these new machines – a goal that will impact our friends, family, neighbours and children for many generations to come,” says Corwin.
Thank you, FDC Foundation, for leading the movement to revolutionize healthcare!
